My passion is employing rigorous research methods to solve real world business problems. Currently, I am the VP of Research at MotiveMetrics where I utilize my background in both personality psychology and data science to help identify consumer motivations. At MotiveMetrics we are employing advanced assessment techniques in order to understand the underlying connections between consumer behavior and psychological traits. We, in turn, convert these findings into actionable business insights.
I earned my Ph.D. in Personality and Social Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin under the supervision of Dr. Sam Gosling. While at UT, I conducted a number of research projects designed to understand how human personality manifests itself in daily life. I focused on two particular domains of behavior: 1) consumer and media preferences (e.g., selection of certain products, preference for particular television genres) and 2) natural language use-- specifically in computer-mediated communication environments (e.g., online chat, email, social networking). In addition to my background in research design and methodology, I have extensive experience in both psychometrics and scale construction as well as statistical analysis.
